We will be open evenings during special and seasonal events such as Taste & Tour, First Fridays, Thunder in the Valley, Squonkapalooza, Halloween Parade and Christmas.
The Write Cup Coffee Shop is located in the heart of historical downtown Johnstown. It’s conveniently located across from the city park and gazebo, which is a hub for musical entertainment and activities throughout the year, such as the farmer’s market and First Fridays.
The coffee shop offers a nice selection of pastries from local bakers and quick lunches for those who work downtown. Denim Coffee is the exclusive coffee roaster of The Write Cup and is the foundation of the shop’s numerous espresso coffee drinks or traditional drip coffee. The warm, casual atmosphere is perfect for doing work on your laptop or meeting up with friends. Its unique industrial look includes vintage typewriters, and “wordsy” art pieces, guaranteed to start a conversation.
The majority of our baristas are English and Literature majors, so be sure to ask them who are their favorite writers and poets and what are their favorite books.
WHAT’S MY STORY
Denise Urban, is a native Johnstowner and owner of The Write Cup. Her love of coffee started early when visiting her grandmother who would give her a cup of coffee (with lots of cream) and buttered toast. Her fondness for writing short stories and poetry started her on the road to collecting vintage typewriters. She enjoys sharing her “typers” with the public and especially the youngsters who are mystified by the machines and ask to type something.
